HiJinks

HiJinks is a colorful aggregation of talented and high-spirited musicians who play fresh, progressive acoustic music. The band performs swing, bluegrass, and original tunes with an enthusiasm that listeners can't help but catch! HiJinks' 1991 album, Slowpoke, which was produced by mandolin maestro David Grisman, has received rave reviews and substantial airplay. The members of HiJinks bring years of professional experience and an impressive range of abilities to the group. Known for its soaring vocal harmonies, rich instrumental arrangements, and lighthearted sense of humor, HiJinks delivers high energy musical entertainment for all occasions.

Chip Dunbar adds powerful vocals, sparkling instrumental work, and a charismatic stage presence to HiJinks. His original compositions are an integral part of the band's repertoire. Chip is featured primarily on mandolin, but he can also be found playing hot fiddle or contributing guitar or banjo work.

Sara Winge is a creative and dynamic vocalist who supplies HiJinks with a solid foundation on guitar. With her strong, supple voice, she can belt out a hard-driving bluegrass tune or croon a romantic ballad. A versatile performer, she is equally at home with the music of Duke Ellington or Patsy Cline.

Ted Dutcher anchors the band with his rock-steady bass playing. Ted received classical training on the bass before turning his talents towards more contemporary American music. He has been the arranger for a number of bluegrass and swing bands, rounding out the vocals with his pleasing tenor. Ted's recording credits include the Eclecti-Catz and film soundtracks.

Chip, Sara and Ted also form the core of the "space beat" band, Terra Nova.
